Blocking words and configuring Memory

How to use Banned Words and Memory Preferences in Brand Kit

Written by Alberto Barberis

Two Brand Kit tools give you precise control over what the AI says and remembers.

Banned Words — prevent specific language in all AI output

Navigate to Brand KitBanned Words tab → click + Add Banned Words Group. Name the group and list the words or phrases to block. Create multiple groups for different contexts.

Link a group to an action by selecting it from the Banned Words dropdown in the AI Action configuration or Enhance modal.

Use cases:

  • Block competitor brand names from appearing in your product descriptions

  • Remove overused marketing clichés ("best in class", "game-changer", "revolutionary", "unique")

  • Enforce brand style rules — for example, always use "affordable" instead of "cheap"

  • Comply with platform-specific prohibited word policies for Amazon or Shopify

  • Block legally sensitive terms in regulated product categories

Memory Preferences — give the AI persistent context per channel

Navigate to Brand KitMemory Preferences tab → select a channel from the dropdown → click + Add Memory Preference. Memory is channel-specific — you can have different context for your English Shopify channel versus your German Amazon channel.

To apply memory: in any Enhance or action configuration, expand Advanced features and toggle Preferences memory on.

Use cases:

  • "Our target customer is a professional woman aged 35–55 who values quality and craftsmanship"

  • "We hold B Corp certification — always reference our sustainability commitment"

  • "Always write product descriptions in present tense"

  • "This channel targets buyers browsing on mobile — keep sentences short and scannable"
