Testing a pre-built action and creating a custom one both use the same 3-section action editor page in AI Studio.
To test a pre-built action: go to AI Studio → select a category in the left panel (e.g. Content Generation → Title) → click Test Action on the purple "Generate Title" card.
To create a custom action: click + Create Action on any white "Build a New Action" card. The same editor opens with a blank template.
Section 1 — Configure Action:
Template Name — give your action a clear, descriptive name (e.g. "Fashion title with brand").
Description — optional notes for your team.
Number of characters — leave blank for default, or specify a limit.
Format — output format dropdown.
Glossaries — link your Brand Kit glossaries to ensure consistent terminology.
Banned Words — link your Brand Kit banned words lists to block specific language.
Advanced features — same options as the Enhance modal: memory toggle, additional tasks, examples, data fields, iterations (max 3), minimum score threshold.
Section 2 — Test Products: search and select products from your catalog, choose which Attribute to test this action on, select a Destination Channel, then click Run Action. The button stays disabled until at least one product is selected.
Section 3 — Check Test Results: appears after the run completes. Shows a Before (Original) / After (New) side-by-side diff for each tested product — the same layout as the Review and Approve page. Inspect the output to confirm quality and accuracy before saving.
Click Save Action to add to your library. Click Discard to exit without saving.
